SGR Repeal and Payment Reform:
Re-Issuing the Report of the National Commission on Physician Payment Reform
Tuesday, September 30, 2014
12:00 – 1:30 pm
(Lunch will be served)
HVC-200 Capitol Visitors Center
The SGR Repeal and Medicare Provider Payment Modernization Act, currently before Congress, represents the first bipartisan, bicameral legislation to repeal the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula that reimburses physicians based on volume, not the quality of care they provide. The SGIM-sponsored National Commission on Physician Payment Reform (http://physicianpaymentcommission.org/) released a report providing a framework for repeal and many of the report’s additional recommendations are included in the legislation. Come hear from leadership from the three specialty societies which focus on primary care about why Congress needs to act this year and resolve this issue once and for all.
Dr. Reid Blackwelder, American Academy of Family Physicians President
Dr. Mark Schwartz, SGIM Health Policy Chair
Dr. Steven Weinberger, American College of Physicians Executive Vice President and Chief Executive
Moderated by Dr. Bill Moran, SGIM President
